Quarterly Pulse: Spring 2016

Posted · Add Comment

After the holidays and year end work being wrapped up tax executives from our corporate clients have finally come up for air. Since the middle of February the tax job market has been on fire.

Director of Tax Accounting and Tax Accounting Manager positions are in high demand.

International Tax Director and International Tax Manager positions are staying in strong demand.

We are seeing an uptick in Tax Technology positions from the Senior level to the Director level.

The Indirect Tax area is starting to show life at the Manager level.

As always the Senior Tax Analyst level is at a ridiculously high demand.

The Vice President of Tax level has seen a drop in volume this quarter compared to the last but we anticipate volume will get back in line once we hit the middle to end of the second quarter of this year.

I hear the cry from some (15%) of my CFO and VP of tax friends about their frustration with having to post jobs and utilize their internal recruiting team for an initial period before retaining our services. We are both in such a highly specialized niche together and I realize your frustration. Take note that usually it only takes one tax position before an internal recruiting team throws there hands up and comes directly to us recognizing what we have all known all along that you have to secure a specialized tax search firm to identify top tax talent for your organization.

Lastly, I love this time of year. The vines in Napa Valley (just 50 minutes away from our corporate office!) are experiencing budbreak, the NCAA
basketball tournament is just around the corner, the Golden State Warriors are continuing their dominance and my Raiders are still in Oakland getting ready for the draft.

Best regards,

Paul
